Our father in heaven we thank you for your wonderful love and grace for another day and week in Jesus name. We pray that you help overcome the plans of the enemy and bless the works of our hands in Jesus name. Amen.

This new week devotional will be opening our eyes to event around us this season as faithful Christians around the world are observing the annual 40 days fasting in preparation towards the Easter celebration. What it means to fast, how do we fast and why fasting in the first place? These are very relative questions surrounding the act of fasting in every standard.
Fasting is an act of total or partial abstinence from food, water and any form of pleasure at a set time in order to focus on God. It is a process of humility and submission to God and as well to seek God for one thing or the other with desire to receive from Him.
“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.” Matthew 4:1-2 (KJV)
The text above has exposed us to the period Jesus have to fast for a set time of 40 days and obviously was a time of total abstinence from food. The fasting was the preparation for His earthly ministry and beginning of his victory over the devil. It was a season of fortification for Jesus and after this He was tested and recorded a huge success and reason for this season for Christians.
Friend, this is a lesson for all, that if you want to start up something and want the success, pray and fast for it will fortify the process for success.
