FASTING (Be Humble And Trust God)
Ezra 8:21-23 & Jeremiah 33:2-3

Our dear father we thank you for yet another day and it is our prayer that you will bless this day for us in Jesus name. Amen.

Fasting like we earlier learnt that it is an act of abstinence from food, water and pleasure as a whole is also a means of humbling another before God. This abstinence is not just without purpose or focus; we use it to seek the face of God in anticipation of response from Him. Ezra the scribe in the days of Nehemiah wrote about one of their fasting seasons which entail the purpose and the aftermath of the fasting.
“There by the Ahava Canal I gave orders for us all to fast and humble ourselves before our God and to ask him to lead us on our journey and protect us and our children and all our possessions. I would have been ashamed to ask the emperor for a troop of cavalry to guard us from any enemies during our journey, because I had told him that our God blesses everyone who trusts him, but that he is displeased with and punishes anyone who turns away from him. So we fasted and prayed for God to protect us, and he answered our prayers.” Ezra 8:21-23 (GNB)
Here it becomes very shameful to seek support from the one who could do the support but Ezra before time has bragged about the power in trusting God. He know that God place cannot be undermine in as much as we can relate with Him and trust His potency to do more than we requested. Hear the take of the Prophet Jeremiah about what God told Him about trusting Him while praying “I made the earth, formed it, and set it in place. My name is the LORD. This is what the LORD says: Call to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you great and mysterious things that you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:2-3 (GW)
Friend it is not enough to just fast and pray, it is very important to trust God and be able to be sure He will do more than men can do for you. He is more than the battalion and the troop that could actually fail in the course to their duties. Basically be humble while fasting and fully trust God, He is more than able and He will answer your prayers.
